iShares Diversified Commodity Swap UCITS ETF (DE) is a synthetic exchange-traded fund compliant with European UCITS regulations, designed to provide investors with indirect exposure to a diversified basket of 20 commodities. It achieves this through a total return swap mechanism, replicating the performance of its underlying index without physically holding the commodities, thereby avoiding direct storage and ownership complexities associated with commodity investments. Launched in August 2007 and domiciled in Germany, the ETF maintains a total expense ratio of 0.46% per annum and follows an accumulating distribution policy, reinvesting returns into the fund. As a UCITS vehicle, it adheres to strict diversification rules, limits counterparty risk to 10% of net asset value via collateralized swaps, and ensures liquidity through open-ended structure and independent custody, enhancing investor protections. This ETF plays a key role in portfolios seeking commodity diversification, often as an inflation hedge or alternative asset class, amid sectors like energy, metals, and agriculture, while navigating currency and volatility risks inherent in unhedged exposure. With assets under management around EUR 228 million, it supports broad market access across European listings.
